Daniel L. Lohr

Daniel L. Lohr, 62, of West Hempfield Township, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Paramount Senior Living Center. He was born in Somerset, son of Donald L. Lohr, West Hempfield Township and the late Dawna Grim Lohr, who passed away in March of 2000. He was baptized on April 9, 196 at Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. I. Hess Wagner and was a graduate of Penn Manor High School, Class of 1978. He worked in maintenance mechanical at Harley Davidson for 24 years before his retirement. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Milton G. Lohr, who passed away in March of 1997 and his grandmother, Parnel Eichelberger Lohr, who passed away in November of 1976.

Dolores M. Hinkle

Dolores M. Hinkle, 84, of Fleetwood, formerly of Marietta, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. She was the wife of the late Paul H. Hinkle, Jr., who passed away on November 22, 2017. Dolores was born in Columbia, daughter of the late Sylvester Ford and Hazel McComsey Mann. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Columbia and enjoyed playing cards with her friends, attending family events and she loved the Lord.

She is survived by one son: John W. Hinkle, Troy, PA. Two daughters: Pennie J. (Joel J.) Kehres, Lancaster and Wendy J. (Mike) Medina, Fleetwood. Ten grandchildren. Seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. One sister: Shirley Fasig. She was preceded in death by one son: Paul H. Hinkle, III., and one brother: Larry Ford.

Erica L. Tirado

Erica L. Tirado, 42, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of Joseph H., Jr. and Tina M. Gressley Martin. Erica was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was baptized and was a member of West Willow United Methodist Church. She had a great sense of humor and was very witty. She enjoyed cooking, music, and her grandchildren very much. Her family was first in her life.

Surviving in addition to her parents, her husband, Lorenzo Tirado, Jr. Three daughters: Talia L., Isabella M. and Julianna M. Tirado. One granddaughter: Athena L. Griffin. Two brothers: Joseph R. and Andrew J. Martin. One sister: Jessica M. Martin.

Michael P. Deeley

Michael P. Deeley, 53, of West Hempfield Township, beloved husband, father, stepfather, son, and brother, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023. Born in Nuremberg, Germany. He was the husband of Tima Z. Good, father of Nicole L. Deeley, stepfather of Eric J. Good, son of Frederic E. Deeley and Diane R. Dryden-Deeley, brother of Patrice Deeley-Reed and Kristine Deeley-Donnelly. Mike worked as a network engineer for PennDOT in Harrisburg for many years. He was a proud member and president of Roses Rugby Club in Lancaster. His team will honor him with a moment of silence and retire the Number 1 jersey, Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 1:00 P.M., home field Centerville Middle School. Mike was also a member of the IDLOUR Club and Veteran of the US Navy.

Mike was a dedicated advocate for ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter. He loved working on his Corvette and hosting the most epic parties at his house.

Scott Alan Blount

Scott Alan Blount, 59, of West Hempfield Township, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023. He was born in Torrance, CA, son of the late Nolan and Ruth Baisch Blount. Scott worked as a printing press operator and enjoyed playing music and the outdoors, which included camping, biking, boating and fishing.

He is survived by his daughter: Ashley L. Blount. One brother: Steve (Julie) Blount. One sister: Susan (Dang) Warner. One niece: Paige Warner and one nephew: Steven Blount. He was preceded in death by one brother: Roger Blount.

Betty J. Main

Betty J. Main, 92, of Manor Township, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. She was the wife of Howard S. Main, with whom she celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on December 31, 2022. She was born in Manor Township, daughter of the late Earl M. and Della B. Hess Barley, having been the oldest of nine children. Betty was a graduate of Millersville Manor High School, Class of 1949. She was a purchasing agent/secretary for Penn Boiler for 14 years before her retirement. Betty was a member of Stehman Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a soloist in the choir. She was active at Central Manor Camp Meeting, took courses at Lancaster Bible College and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, crabbing at Avalon Beach and Indian River and going to the cabin in Potter County. Betty was a member of Manor FFA, National FFA and a life member of the Pennsylvania FFA and she was also active in West Lampeter Community Fair. Betty enjoyed her family and her grandson loved her baked corn.

Surviving in addition to her husband, one daughter: Stephanie M. (Douglas N.) Paradies, York. One son: Howard S. (Stacy H.) Main, Holtwood. Two grandchildren: Samuel and Elizabeth Main. Two step-grandchildren: Sara Hollinger and Jacob Hollinger. Four brothers: James Barley, John M. (Jackie) Barley, Earl M. (Blanche) Barley and Henry F. (Marsha) Barley. Three sisters: Alice Brady, Ruth Swisher and Emma M. (Ronald) Bitts. She was preceded in death by one sister: Mary Ellen Hank.

Major Dennis R. Kendig, (Ret.)

Major Dennis R. Kendig, (Ret.), 87, of West Hempfield Township, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. He was the husband of the late Patricia I. Kendig, who passed away in 2004. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Albert J. and Katherine Mary Markert Kendig. Dennis was a lifetime, retired Major of the US Marine Corps. Following retirement, he worked as a plant manager at Kunzler Meats from 1979-1990 and retired as a Deputy Sheriff from the Lancaster County Sheriff's Department. Dennis was a devout Christian and member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church. He loved and enjoyed people and his family, hunting, fishing and target shooting. Dennis had a robust personality and was insightful with people and a very sociable person. 

He is survived by his children: Megan E. Laudermilch; Dennis P. Kendig; Tamara L. Morrow and David M. Kendig. Nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Lisa M. Henning

Lisa M. Henning, 60, of Mountville, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Penn State Lancaster Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Don Henning, with whom she celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on February 27, 2023. Lisa was born in Lancaster, daughter of Elsie M. Spackman Miller, Columbia and the late Charles D. Miller, Jr. She worked as a coder at Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute. Lisa was a graduate of Hempfield High School, Class of 1980 and attended Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church. She loved the beach at Ocean City, MD, her garden, reading books and walking in parks. Her favorite past time of all was spending time with family and friends. Lisa truly loved people and was very blessed to have many friends.

In addition to her husband, Lisa is survived by her daughters: Sara (Mike) Bellino, Lusby, MD and Whitney Pipkin, Mountville. Her son: Daniel Pipkin and his girlfriend, Allie Zink, East Petersburg. Her stepson: Brian (Miriam) Henning, Aurora, CO. Her grandchildren, whom she adored: Corianne, Cameron, Dylan, Mya, Faith, Lenny and Charlotte. She was preceded in death by one brother: Stephen Miller.

Jill Maysilles

Jill Maysilles, 82,  of West Hempfield Township, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at her son's home in Lancaster surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Francis D. Conley and the late Jane Baker Ambrose. Jill retired as a supervisor at ITT Grinnell after many years of service. Following retirement, she worked for the Hempfield School District. Her favorite past times were curling up with a good book, playing cards with friends and enjoying the company of her dog.

Jill is survived by her four children: Holly Burrows (Joseph) Connors, Carlisle; P. Wesley (Harry G. Wentzel, Jr.) Burrows, Lancaster; Timothy A. Maysilles, West Hempfield Township and Daryl D. (Liia Ambartsumyan) Maysilles, Columbia. Six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Two sisters: Judith Conley (Todd) Combs, Catonsville, MD and Susan Ambrose Heim, Lancaster.

Lois R. Wilson

Lois R. Wilson, 81, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. She was the wife of the late Harold B. Wilson. Lois was born in Lancaster County, daughter of the late Andrew W. and Ada E. Geib Erb. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her family.

She is survived by four sons and three daughters. Eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also, two sisters. She was preceded in death by six siblings.

Robert A. Griffith

Robert A. Griffith, 87, of Mountville, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at home. He was the husband of the late Sonia A. Griffith who passed away on November 21, 2022. Bob was born in Lancaster, son of the late Harold T. and Almeda Brackbill Griffith. He was a tool and die maker/machinist, having owned his own machine shop. Bob was a Veteran of the US Navy and enjoyed kayaking.

 He is survived by one daughter: Kimberly G. (Steve) Brown, Jasper, GA. Three grandchildren: Kristen (Justin) Deese, Navarre, FL; Dustin Brown (Jenny Wilson), Jasper, GA and Daniel (Olivia) Brown, Canton, GA. Six great-grandchildren. Fay Eshleman

Fay Eshleman, 92, of Central Manor, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late James L. Eshleman to whom she was married for 67 years before he passed away in 2020. She was born in Quentin, daughter of the late Norman C. and Rhoda P. Martin Sheckart. Fay was an office worker for Columbia Malleable Company before her retirement. She was a member of Washington Boro Church of God and enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning and the weekly Sunday evening gatherings with her family.

She is survived by one daughter: Darlene, wife of Bob Sands, Lancaster and one son: Tim, husband of Pam (Goss) Eshleman, Millersville. Five grandchildren: Olivia (Darrick) Buswell; Joe (Mandy) Sands; Atlee (Adrienne) Eshleman; Keith (Kayla) Eshleman and Andrew Eshleman. Nine great-grandchildren: Carson, Landon and Dillon Sands; Kelsey and Evan Buswell; Leah, Luke, Levi and Barrett Eshleman. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Deborah (wife of Donald Bogart). Two brothers: Norman C. Sheckart, Jr. and Gerald Sheckart.

Doris J. Floyd

Doris Jeanette Bitner Floyd, 85, of St. Anne's Retirement Community went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 5, 2023. She was "the love of my life" to Carl E. Floyd with whom she celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on September 14, 2022. Doris was born in Millersville, daughter of the late Harold and Ruth Walk Bitner. She was a homemaker, who dearly loved her family and faithfully prayed for them. She graduated from Penn Manor High School, Class of 1955 and worked at the former Conestoga National Bank, Lancaster until starting their family. Doris enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandma, great-grandmother and homemaker, and had an avid interest in family history, which she shared with Dale. She was a member of Word of Life Chapel, Bainbridge, enjoyed flowers and was a life-long Phillies fan. She and Carl were fans of Southern Gospel music and attended many local concerts over the years. She will be remembered and missed by many.

Surviving in addition to her husband, one daughter: Donna, married to Bob Wiggins, Conestoga and one son: Dale, married to Peg Floyd, Mount Joy. Grandchildren: Matt Wiggins, Amy Wiggins Livengood, Ben Floyd and Kim Floyd. Great-grandchildren: Hailey, Calley, Noah, Bree and Eden who will all miss "Grammy." Donald E. Braungard

Donald E. Braungard, 90, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at home. He was the husband of Patricia A. Wallace Braungard to whom he was married for more than 66 years. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Andrew E. and Grace A. Braungard. Don was a supervisor in Customer Accounting for UGI Lancaster Division for 43 years. He attended Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Mountville and enjoyed golfing, bowling, cars, reading, doing word puzzles and collecting pens.

Aita Kumari Gurung

Aita Kumari Gurung, 59, of Lancaster Township, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. She was the wife of the late Tula Ram Gurung who passed away on May 4, 2004. She was born in Mele, Sarpang Bhutan, daughter of Mon Maya Gurung and the late Mon Bahadur Gurung. Aita was a restaurant owner in Bhutan and was a member of the Bhutanese Nepali Church, Lancaster. Her hobbies included gardening, with tulips being her favorite flower, hosting dinner parties and collecting butterflies.

 She is survived by her children: son Gunja Gurung; daughter: Som Gurung (husband, Padam Gurung); daughter: Sita G. Rai (husband, Binod Rai); son: Ram Gurung; daughter: Lachi Gurung (husband, Badal Pradhan); son: Subash Gurung (wife, Pranita Gurung) and daughter: Vima Gurung (husband, Bikash Khadka. Six grandchildren (4 grandsons and 2 granddaughters). Eleven siblings (8 sisters and 2 brothers).

 The Funeral Service will be held at Mellinger Mennonite Church, 1916 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Deepak Rai, officiating. Charles R. "Bud" Heim

Charles R. "Bud" Heim, 88, a lifelong resident of Columbia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 13, 2023, at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara E. Barnett Heim with whom he would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on June 8, 2023. He was born in Columbia, son of the late Charles L. and Dora L. Brommer Heim. Bud was a purchasing agent, having worked for Bendix Corporation for thirteen and a half years and Modi Printing for 20 years. He was a graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1952. Bud attended Columbia United Methodist Church and was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a local historian for Columbia and the surrounding areas who enjoyed trains, was a member of the Lancaster Post Card Club and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife, one daughter: Michelle A. (John) Wolf. Two sons: Mitchell B. (Kyleann) Heim and Michael C. (Wendy) Heim. Three grandchildren: Ashley (Terry) Spangenburg, Clayton C. Blevins and Blair T. Heim. Three great-grandchildren: Nathan, Emma and Benjamin. One brother: Wayne F. Heim. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother: Luther Heim.

The Memorial Service will be held at Columbia United Methodist Church, 510 Walnut Street, Columbia, PA 17512 on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Tom Grubbs, officiating. William J. Ashley

William J. Ashley, 65, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of Paulette Murray Ashley to whom he was married for 36 years. He was born in Lancaster, son of the late Fred William and Irene Reedy Ashley. William was a truck driver and enjoyed his family, his dogs, the outdoors, music, old cars, the Pittsburgh Steelers and was a very funny man who could put a smile on anyone's face.

Riley Stephen Erb

Riley Stephen Erb, 21, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at home. Riley was born in Lancaster, the much loved son of Gay McKain Erb and the late R. Stephen Erb who preceded him in death in 2010. He grew up in Mount Joy and attended Donegal and later Penn Manor schools and was adored by his nieces and nephews and enjoyed trips to the beach with his family. Riley loved to spend his free time playing video games with his best friends and cooking new dinners with his mom. He also adored his furry feline friend, Fluff.

Surviving in addition to his mother, his siblings: Rockie Hilburn, Abbie Hilburn (fiance': Jeff Cwiertniewicz), Emilie Erb (fiance': Jaedyn Rush). Grandparents: Kathy and Robert Sullivan and grandfather: Luther Barrett, Jr. Seven nieces and nephews: Trinity, McKenzie, Aubree, Gavyn, Xander, Maizlee and Maddie. Also many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends who will forever miss him. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: George and Marilyn McKain.

A million times, I'll need you; a million times I'll cry, if love alone could save you, you would never have to die. In life I've loved you dearly, in death I love you still, in my heart you hold a place that no one will ever fill. It breaks my heart to lose you, but you haven't gone alone; part of me went with you on this day God took you home."

Carolyn M. Blumenschein

Carolyn M. Blumenschein, 90, of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Lancaster Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Richard G. Blumenschein, who passed away in 2007. She was born in Columbia, daughter of the late William and Minerva Criswell Witmer. She did clerical work for Kahn-Lucas Manufacturing before her retirement. Carolyn attended the Worship Center and enjoyed spending time with her family, playing Bingo and going to the casinos.

She is survived by one son: Brian L. (Suzanne) Blumenschein, Mount Joy. One daughter: Suzanne C. (Dean) Vitatoe, Lancaster. Three grandchildren: John Ruth, Erika Vitatoe and Zachary Vitatoe. Two great-grandchildren: Roman and Draven Ruth. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Herbert, William and James Witmer.

Cole R. Brandt

Cole R. Brandt, 9, of Lititz, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023. He was born in Lancaster, son of Tyler R. and Nicole R. Brandt. Cole was in the third grade at John R. Bonfield Elementary School and enjoyed building with blocks, Legos, trains, camping, rock collecting and playing with his sister.

Surviving in addition to his parents, one brother: Carter M. Brandt and one sister: Layne M. Brandt. Paternal grandfather: Dan Brandt and paternal grandmother: Vicky L. "Gram" Boehler. Maternal grandfather: Robert "Grampy" Heisey and maternal grandmother: Stephanie L. "Nan" Heisey. Maternal step-grandfather: Bruce "Pap" Snyder. Maternal great-grandfather: Robert "Pappy" Heisey.
