James A. Bolin, 83, of Mountville, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at home in the presence of his loving family. He was the husband of Gloria S. Mills Bolin with whom he celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on June 19, 2016. He was born in Bradford, son of the late Edward E. and Beaulah Burger Bolin. He lived in Bradford until 1949, when the family moved to Center Line, MI. While there, Jim worked as a deliveryman for Brown Dairy, delivering milk in a horse drawn wagon. Upon graduation from Busch High School, in 1959, he returned to the Bradford area to continue working with his father on the family’s dairy farm. During these years, Jim’s interests included roller skating, square dancing, stock car racing, and dating (as many as two and three nights a week). Jim met his future wife, Gloria, at a roller skating rink in Bradford, in 1953 and they married two years later. Jim and Gloria lived in a mobile home on the farm until they built their home. He continued to work with his dad on the farm, delivering milk for Bolin Dairy, until their dairy farm merged with four others in the Bradford area, including Sunny Brook Dairy. Jim worked as a sales manager until he and his family relocated to the Lancaster area in October of 1971. In Lancaster, Jim worked for Turkey Hill Dairy as a wholesale sales manager for 37 years, before retiring in 2003. Jim was a member of Hempfield United Methodist Church, and also a member, (since 1971), of Manor Ridge Lions Club where he was Past President for four terms. He served in many capacities at the District Level including: District Governor-14 D (2010-11), Zone Chair Person, and the Region Chairperson. Jim received many District Awards, including the Joseph Wroblewski Award, the Melvin Jones Award, and the Pennsylvania Fellowship Award. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, and television (clicking the remote control).
Surviving in addition to his wife, one son: Jeffery (Linda) Bolin, Lancaster. Two daughters: Brenda (Barry) Shenberger, Manheim and Robin Bolin, Lancaster. Seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One sister: Dorothy Harrold, Seminole, OK. He was preceded in death by one great-grandson: Ian Swarr, and one brother: William Bolin.
The Funeral Service will be held at Hempfield United Methodist Church, 3050 Marietta Ave., Lancaster on Friday, July 22, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Bruce Lefever, officiating. Interment in Mountville Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Please omit flowers.
