Janet I. Fry Dietrich, 73, of Millersville, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Glenn C. Dietrich, to whom she was married for 41 years before he passed away on November 23, 2008. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late James M. and Irene F. Lindeman Fry. Janet grew up in Conestoga and was a graduate of Penn Manor High School, Class of 1962. She retired from Alcoa in 1988 after 24 years of service and was also a dedicated caregiver for several family members. She was a member and was previously on the board of Bethany EC Church of Creswell; and the Millersville Lions and Lioness Club, where she also received many service awards, including Lion of the year. Janet and her husband Glenn were loyal Lancaster Barnstormers fans. She carried on this tradition by being a season ticket holder, avid supporter and member of the Barnstormers Booster Club, Board of Directors, after his death. She was also a member of Weight Watchers in both PA and FL. She lived life to the fullest, enjoying time spent with her dear friends Marsha and Henry Barley, snow birding in Clearwater, FL. They have stood by her side through thick and thin. Janet loved her trips to Ocean City, MD with the “Rowdy Rankins”, and enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends.
Janet is survived by one son: J. Douglas (Jane) Dietrich, York. One grandson: Dalton Glenn Dietrich. Sister-in-law: Helen Hess, Washington Boro and three nephews: Leslie Hess, Millersville; Fred Hess, Washington Boro; and Rodney Hess, Maryland. She was preceded in death by one brother: John L.
