Scott E. Kelley, of Lancaster, passed away at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy, on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 after a long, brave battle with cancer. He left this world too early, at the age of 53. Scott was a graduate of Penn Manor High School and Willow Street Vo-Tech, and was a welder by trade. He found his enjoyment in working outside and became a self-employed landscaper in Lancaster where he earned the respect and friendship of his clients, who will miss him greatly. Scott’s kindness in helping without being asked or recognized, spoke of how generous a heart he had.
Scott loved to relax at the beach, or travel to the mountains in Philipsburg, PA, where he stayed frequently at the family’s cabin. This provided him the freedom and pleasure to spend a lot of time in the woods, trail riding on a four wheeler or snowmobile, and off-roading in the Jeep. An avid hunter all his life, it was something he continued to do with his Father and friends, even as he fought his cancer. He has two cherished ford Mustangs that he took pride in customizing and driving.
Scott was preceded in death by his Mother, Nadine Stover Kelley, Philipsburg, who he was looking forward to being with once again. He is survived by his father and mother, Edward and Shara Yeager Kelley, Willow Street. Scott is also survived by his partner, Lisa Hess Rutherford, Willow Street. Two brothers: Christopher Kelley, and his fiancée, Heidi Reynolds, Lancaster; and Michael Yeager and his wife, Lori, Lancaster. A sister: Kristen Yeager, Willow Street. Two nieces: Shannon Kelley Reitz, Reading; and Briana Yeager, Strasburg. A nephew: Kyle Yeager, Strasburg.
A service to celebrate Scott’s life will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Charles A. Deutsch, officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M. Private interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
