B. Claire Burkert, 84, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017, at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. She was the wife of the late Arthur A. Burkert who passed away on October 15, 1986. She was born in Columbia, daughter of the late Frederick C. Kimmich and Bernice Cover Kimmich Arter. She worked in the office of Donegal Mutual Insurance and Kraft-Workman Funeral Homes; was a coordinator for Columbia Public Library; and was a hostess at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, their church council, sang in the choir, and volunteered with Meals On Wheels.
She is survived by two daughters: Michele R. (Brian R.) Keck, Blandon; and Toni L. Pittman, Mountville. Five grandchildren: Marci (Dustin) Eck; Allison Luttman; Adam Pittman; Kevin (Juliana) Luttman; and Emily Pittman. Two great-grandsons: Cameron and Nolan Eck. She was preceded in death by a brother: Joseph Kimmich.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Locust and Sixth Streets, Columbia on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Beth J. Costlow, officiating. Interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. There will be no public viewing, however, visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Please omit flowers.
