Eugene N. Montgomery, 87, of Lancaster, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. He was the husband of Dorothy E. “Dot” Millhouse Montgomery with whom he celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on June 30, 2018. Gene was the son of Aldus, Sr. and Ada Stauffer Montgomery. He was a tool and die maker for Star Dental before his retirement in 1996. Following his retirement, he worked at the Manheim Auto Auction for 10 years. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict and was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where he was an usher and communion steward. Gene was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed playing his guitar with the Central Manor Old-Timers, playing at different retirement homes, senior citizens groups and churches. He was the last of his immediate family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Aldus, Jr., Lloyd, Jr., Kenneth, and Theodore Montgomery. Two sisters: Marguerite Frey and Jeannette Landis.
The Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 100 West Main Street, Mountville on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. James Cavallero and Rev. Arthur Rettew, officiating. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park with Full Military Honors. Friends may call at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Friday, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also at the church on Saturday, from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M.
