Melvin E. Detz, 78, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Barbara Ann Christian Detz, who passed away on March 1, 2015. He was born in Marietta, son of the late Quintin and Rebecca Barninger Detz. He was a police officer before his retirement. Melvin was a veteran of the US Army and attended Faith Bible Church and enjoyed bingo and the Sunday family dinners.

He is survived by two brothers: Vernon Detz and Robert Detz. One sister: Catherine (Rodney) Griffith. Also, several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held at Faith Bible Church, 2075 Harrisburg Avenue, Mount Joy, PA 17522 on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Shawn P. Madrid, officiating. Interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: Faith Bible Church.
