Joseph S. Smith, Sr., 69, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022 at home. He was the loving husband of Melinda "Mindy" Droege Smith, with whom he spent 12 wonderful years together. Joe was a tractor-trailer driver for 40 years before his retirement. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Joe's passion was his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Surviving in addition to his wife, a son, his pride and joy, Joseph S. Smith, Jr., Master Chief in the US Navy and his wife: Naoko. Two grandchildren: Matthew and Hannah Smith. One brother: Ernest Smith, Jr. He was preceded in death by his three brothers: Mike, Greg and Chas Smith and his sister: Floss Wiker.
