Allen George English, 84, of Lititz, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023 in Penn Township in a fiery, automobile crash on Route 322, along with his daughter, Grace M. English-Rohrer, who also perished in the crash.
He was born in Erie, son of the late Clarence B. and Tinnie M. Mariska English. Tragically, his wife of 63 years Barbara A. Bilger English, passed away on August 16, 2023.
Allen, also known as “George”, to his family and friends was also a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He proudly served in the US Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller for four years in Germany, France and Louisiana. His military service was a testament to his dedication and love for his country. Before retiring in the early 2000’s, he worked at a variety of places including American Paper Products Mill, CND Power Com, and as part of a road construction crew on the original “Goat Path” in 1975, which brought his family to Lancaster County. In his free time, Allen enjoyed hunting, spending time with his family, visiting casinos with his wife, being outdoors while mowing and clearing snow, cooking and simply enjoying life.
Allen George English will always be remembered for his love for his family, his service to his country and his zest for life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Allen is survived by his son: Thomas (Debra Gauker) English, Lititz. Son-in-law: Marc Rohrer, Lancaster. Daughter: Allyn (Eric) Taylor, Lititz. Allen was a grandfather to: Rory (Amanda Goft) English; Erin (Dane) Newbaker; Brian Irwin; Leeann Rhoads; Danielle and Reilly Rohrer and Brody and Luke Taylor. He leaves behind great-grandchildren: Brody and Logan Irwin; Lilly and Connor Rhoads; Elliott English and Emma and Colt Newbaker. Brother: Thomas (Mary) English, Phoenix, AZ. Allen was preceded in death by brothers: Don, Buzz and Mick. Also one sister: Lucille.
Per Allen’s wishes, no funeral or memorial service are planned. However, a Visitation will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
