Charles R. Cox, Jr., 98, of St. Anne's Retirement Community, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024. He was the husband of the late Kathryn F. Cox, who passed away in 1998. He was born in Shamokin, son of the late Charles R., Sr. and Alice Wehry Cox. Charlies worked as an arc welder at New Holland Machine Company before his retirement, then worked at the Manheim Auto Auction. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII, having served on DE 747 Destroyer Escort, USS Bright and was a survivor of a Kamikaze attack. Charlie was a member of Reese-Hall VFW Post 8757, where he was twice past commander, also its Honor Guard, where he served as president and treasurer; a 32 Degree member of Columbia Lodge #286 F&AM; Harrisburg Consistory; Lancaster Lodge of Perfection and the Twin Oaks Hunting Camp, Potter County.
He is survived by 13 nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. The Viewing will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
