Francine M. Kauffman, 86, of Lancaster Township, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Russell J. "Jim" Kauffman with whom she celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on April 27, 2024. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Kenneth H. and Ruth Boyd McMillen.
She and her family moved to Millersville when she was a child and attended elementary school at the Normal School in Millersville and graduated from Penn Manor High School, Class of 1956. She was a member of Grace Community Church. Francine had a great sense of humor and plenty of common sense. After she married Jim, she talked him into a rundown, 1763 stone house. They spent 25 years restoring the house. She had lots of good ideas and worked alongside Jim. Francine worked many jobs to help with the bills from helping to butcher ducks, working at Graybill Electric as a lighting consultant, RCA, ALCOA and in her later years, she drove a school bus. She was a great cook and loved to entertain. Francine was very good at house decorating and design and designed two houses after they moved from the stone house. Over the years, Francine volunteered at Meals on Wheels, Zion Church kitchen, Manor Church kitchen, St. Joseph Hospital, Homestead Village Auxiliary, the Conestoga Area Historical Society and the Easter Seal Society when Mitch was a child.
Surviving in addition to her husband, one daughter-in-law: Tina Kauffman. One granddaughter: Krista (Rod) Kauffman Barlet. One great-grandson: Liam McGinnes, who brought great joy to her life. Two sisters: Marsha (Henry) Barley and Linda (the late Walter Bicking). Nieces and nephews: Jeffrey (Lori) Barley; Laurie (Dave) Foltz; Becky (Eric) Reed; Judd (Julie) Bicking and Dean (Daisy) Bicking. She was preceded in death by one son: K. Mitchell Kauffman.
Francine loved her family, including her son, his wife Tina, grandchildren and sisters.
The Funeral Service will be held at Grace Community Church, 212 Peach Bottom Road, Willow Street, PA 17584 on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Mike Sigman, officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Interment in Greenfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to: The Boys and Girls Club of Lancaster or the Mission Fund at Grace Community Church.
