Edward R. Wilson, Jr., 87, of Mountville, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at St. Anne's Retirement Community. He was the husband of Ellen C. Snyder Overmeyer Wilson with whom he would have celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary on December 9, 2019 and the late Arlene S. Wilson. Ed was born in Lancaster, son of the late Edward R., Sr. and Kathryn Keenan Wilson. He was a supervisor at KD Tool and also worked in maintenance at Fulton Bank before his retirement. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict; and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He enjoyed traveling, camping and was a tinkerer.

Surviving in addition to his wife, two sons: Douglas E. Wilson and David R. (Deborah) Wilson. Five step-children: Nancy Roland; Ann (Jeffery) Smith; Mary (Roger) Stoltzfus; Joan (Dale) Becker; and John (Pam) Overmeyer. Five grandchildren. Four great-grandchildren. Six step-grandchildren. Three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by numerous siblings.

The Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 100 West Main Street, Mountville, PA 17554 on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor James Cavallero, officiating. Sarah M. Kunish, 36, of Bainbridge, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019. She was the wife of Stephen C. Knight. She was born in Muskegon MI, daughter of Daniel R. and Debra J. Burch Kunish, Pennsylvania. Sarah was a graduate of Warsaw Community High School, the University of Laverne and Penn State University, Harrisburg with a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology. She was a cheerleader for ten years and enjoyed crafting, scrap booking, animals, nature, the outdoors, environmental causes, reading, camping, and playing card and board games. 

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents, one brother: Ryan D. (Sarah Dawn) Kunish, and their three children, from Indiana. Two sisters: Heather N. (Melissa) Carskadon, and their child, from Michigan; and Emily C. (Brian L.) Smith, and their three children, Pennsylvania. An additional four nieces and one nephew.

Kenneth W. Landis went to be with the Lord August 31, 2019 at the age of 67. He passed away at his home in Gap, PA with his wife by his side. Ken is survived by his wife of 32 years, Marie, mother Helen, both of Gap, PA; a sister Charleen Smeltzer, of Mount Joy, PA; 4 children: Renee Scholer, Sean Landis, John W. Welk and Rachel Welk; 8 grandchildren: Ashlee Mast, John D. Welk, Taylor Mast, Victoria Smith, Garrett Welk, Nichole Scholer, Nicholas Scholer, Tristan Imhoff; a great granddaughter, Charlee Carl. He is preceded in death by his father Ken G., of East Petersburg, PA and granddaughter Kristen Imhoff.

Ken was a graduate of Hempfield High Schools class of 1969. Where he was a member of Hempfield Chorus. He graduated from the Institute of Computer Sciences in 1971 and also completed electrical schooling in 1987 at Williamsport Area Community College.

Kenny was known for his love of music and enjoyed played base, guitar, piano and trumpet. Over the years he was part of numerous bands including: Kansas City, Top Shelf Country, Shindig in the Barn, By Faith, Dreams, Byus, Cats on Holiday, Dunamis, Revival 1.3, Timeless and Grace Notes.

A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at Wayside Presbyterian Church, 600 Stony Battery Road, Landisville, PA on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Casual attire.

Kathleen M. Shuman, 68, of Lancaster passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019. She was the wife of Kenneth D. Shuman with whom she celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on April 7, 2019. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Richard R. and Beatrice Linton Gallagher. Kathy worked as a clerk at the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office and also worked at Penn Supreme for 25 years before her retirement. She was a member of Columbia-Middletown Elks #1074 Ladies Auxiliary where she enjoyed doing the children's program at Christmastime and the Easter Egg Hunt. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #372 Ladies Auxiliary and Women of the Moose Chickies Rock Lodge #307. She was a volunteer at the Lancaster Recreation Center.

Surviving in addition to her husband, one daughter: Cheri M. (Mark S.) Shopf, Elizabethtown. Two granddaughters: Megan (Barry) Sauder and Sami (Pastor Nathan) King. Three sisters: Doris Kelly, Lancaster; Jean (Michael) Nessinger, Leola; and Joan Gerber, Lancaster. Seven nieces and nephews: Julie, Dayna, Tanya, Brittany, Jonathan, and Sean.

Melissa A. Troutman, 51, of Mountville, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2019. She was the wife of Joel E. Troutman to whom she was married for 29 years. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of Jack L. and Shirley L. Reese Yeager, Lititz. Melissa was a Staffing Specialist for Performance Group, York.

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents, three daughters: Brittany A. (Nathaniel) Lenz, Elizabethtown; Brooke L. Troutman, Millersville; and Brandy M. Troutman, Mountville. Two grandchildren: Liam James Lenz; and Lauren Joel Lenz. Three sisters: Stacey J. Yeager, Jennersville; Ann M. Yeager, Harrisburg; and Lori (Tim) Riechard, Cornwall. Kelly West, 67, the woman who entertained tens of thousands of radio listeners in the region, for more than two decades, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019. Her real name was Harriet A. Cote. She was the wife of Mark Cote, whom she married in Lancaster, in 1982. Kelly was born in Lynchburg, Virginia, daughter of the late Harry and Reba Olson. She moved to Lancaster in 1980 and used the air name, "Kelly West" to make her mark at FM 97. In 1983, she became the first woman to host a morning drive radio program in the Lancaster/York area where she helped anchor a news station, WARM 103.3. Kelly was known for her sultry voice and good natured personality, and went on to host the program with various co-hosts until 2004. She returned for a 3-run from 2006-2009 before retiring from full-time radio. She was a member of Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Mountville.

Surviving in addition to her husband, three children: Melissa Witt, Lynchburg, VA; MacKenzie Cote and Taylor Cote, both of Lancaster. Four grandchildren: Miranda Mays; Christopher Mays, Jr.; Paige Witt; and Annabelle Cote. One great-grandson: Christopher Mays, III. One brother: Everett. She was preceded in death by one sister: Marilyn.

Helen G. Duffey, 91, of St. Anne's Retirement Community, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Alvin L. Duffey, who passed away in 2013. She was born in Manor Township, daughter of the late Frank N. and Sara Miller Barley. Helen was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church, and was a listener in their AWANA Program. She volunteered at Wycliffe Bible Translators and Water Street Ministries. She was the last of her immediate family.

She is survived by one daughter: Patricia A. (Ronald D.) Mumper, Mount Joy. One daughter-in-law: Kathy L. Duffey, Millersville. Four grandchildren: Amy L. (Scott) Reifsneider, Pottstown; Andrew D. (Rhonda) Mumper, Mount Joy; Erin (Chris) Rohrbaugh, Conestoga; and Travis L. Duffey (Companion of Megan Bennawit), Lancaster. Eight great-grandchildren: Abby, Beth, Lilly, Tim, Silas, Ruben, Hannah, and McCoy. Two sister-in-laws. She was preceded in death by one son: Thomas L. Duffey, and eight siblings.

Harlan S. Zimmerman, 85, formerly of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Luthercare, Lititz following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Judith A. Kummery Zimmerman with whom he would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on November 2, 2019. He was born in Allentown, son of the late Oliver and Elsie Ruch Zimmerman. He was educated in the Allentown School District and went on to proudly serve in the US Army Security Agency from 1953-56. He then attended Muhlenberg College and received a degree in Physics. A retired quality engineer, Harlan worked at RCA, GE, Burle, and Philips in Lancaster. He was a very active member of Ironville United Methodist Church. He lived for his family, who he loved very much.

Surviving in addition to his wife, two sons: Greg Zimmerman husband of Kathy Humphreys, Pensacola, FL; and Glenn Zimmerman, Elizabethtown. One daughter: Erica wife of Christopher Licopoli, Maytown. Harlan is leaving behind, not only his much loved wife and children, but also two beloved grandchildren: Alexis and Reed Licopoli. He was preceded in death by siblings: Ruth, Richard, Alma, and Curtis Zimmerman.

Elwood L. Hertzog, 84, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2019. He was born in Blandon, son of the late Clinton A. and Edna M. Clay Hertzog. He was a Delivery Driver for Lancaster Newspapers for 17 years before his retirement. Elwood was a Veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his children: Kevin L. Hertzog; Carol L. (Samuel L.) Creasy; and Jeremy L. (Karen F.) Hertzog. Seven grandchildren: Justin; Christina; Amanda; Kristofer; Jessica; Cameron; and Riley. Twelve great-grandchildren. Four brothers and one sister.

Elva M. Bardaxe, 81, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital. She was the wife of the late George J. Bardaxe. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Robert R. and Florence Wall Witmer. She worked as an Inspector for Hamilton Watch Co. Pulsar Division and Bulova Technology. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Elva loved animals, especially dogs, her family, horseback riding, and traveling with her late husband.

She is survived by one son: Robert E. (Debra J.) Bardaxe, Mountville. Two grandchildren: Nicole L. Bardaxe, Mountville and Brooke E. Bardaxe, Lancaster. Two great-grandchildren: Cameron M. Clawson and Zion G. Bardaxe Smeltzer, and another great-granddaughter on the way.

Sandra D. LeFevre, 73, of West Hempfield Twp. passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Susquehanna Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born and raised in Columbia, daughter of the late Harry T. and Susan J. Wambaugh Doll. She retired in 2011 from York Memorial Hospital; was a graduate of Hempfield High School, Class of 1964; and F & M College, Class of 1974. “Despite her small stature, she was probably the toughest, most stubborn and most loving person you have the misfortune to have never met.” 

She is survived by her son: Garry Mark LeFevre, Jr. Cousin: Harold M. “Jack” Abel, Jr. And her four cats: Coal, Rennie, Jacki, and Raleigh.

Ruth H. Bushong died peacefully at the age of 106 on Thursday, July 25, 2019. A resident of Brethren Village, she lived on a dairy farm in West Hempfield Twp., Lancaster County from 1935 to 2000. She was a member of the Mountville Church of the Brethren, serving in the office of deacon with her late husband, Robert H. Bushong, who died in 1983. She was in Farm Women Society #4, enjoyed quilting, gardening, traveling and serving others. Ruth was the daughter of the late Rev. Peter S. and Sadie Burkholder Heisey of Clay Twp., Lancaster County. 

She is survived by by five children: E. Faye Rohrer (wife of the late Jay H. Rohrer) of Lititz, PA, Glenn R. (Ruth E.) Bushong, Columbia, PA, Reba J. (Dean) Beery, North Manchester, IN, S. Marie (Melvin) Breneman, Strasburg, PA, and Dale E. (Frances) Bushong, Annville, PA. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Ralph B., Samuel B., and Enos B. Heisey. She was also preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Hope E. Breneman. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Mountville Church of the Brethren, 60 Clay St, Mountville, PA 17554 on Monday, July 29, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation preceding the service at 10:00 A.M.  Interment will be private. Mary E. Conger, 71, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019. She was the wife of William A. Conger whom she married on December 11, 1993. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late Henry S. May and the late Betty Jane Brenner. She enjoyed playing bingo, her grandchildren and her dogs.

Surviving in addition to her husband, two daughters: Betty M. (Kenneth, Sr.) Keller-Lightcap and Linda L. (Bruce E., Jr.) Hershey. One step-son: William E. Conger. Eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. One brother: Henry Brenner and one sister: Rose Boughter. She was preceded in death by one son-in-law: David L. Keller, Sr. and two brothers: Franklin and Arthur Brenner.

Teresa L. Van Zandt, 55, of Lititz, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at her second home in the village of Central, PA. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of Julie McCamant Van Zandt and the late Gordon R. Van Zandt. She was self-employed, having a stand at Roots Market. She enjoyed the mountains, crafting, her family, and her two dogs.

She is survived by her life companion, Charles F. Ortlieb. Her children: Jason M. Krauskop; Tara L. Krauskop; and Amanda E.T. Krauskop. Eleven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. One brother: H.N. Scott (Terri A.) Van Zandt. One sister: Lucinda S. (Guy M.) DeBord.

Leroy S. "Bachy" Bachman, 87, of Mountville, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019. He was the husband of Margaret A. Hank Bachman, with whom he would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on August 13, 2019. He was born in Columbia, son of the late Lester and Bessie Mae Groom Bachman. He was a Union Plasterer/Cement Finisher and also an instructor for Job Corps in Maryland. Bachy was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church; Columbia Lodge #286 F&AM; and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife, one daughter: Diane L. (David A.) Schaeffer; and one son: James H. (Theresa) E. Bachman, all of Mountville. Four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son: Thomas L. Bachman and four brothers and sisters.

Valli Lee Ashford Trice, 70, of Mountville, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Larry C. Trice, Sr., who passed away on November 19, 2016. She was born in Lancaster, daughter of the late John F. and Grayce V. Frankver Roth. She was a physical therapist for Beverly Healthcare and Manor Care Health Services. She enjoyed painting, gardening, and spending time with her family. 

She is survived by one son: Lonnie M. (Crystal L.) Ashford. One daughter: Michele L. Ashford. Three step-children: Kim Trice; Larry Trice, Jr.; and Michael Trice. Ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. One sister: Joan Marshall. She was preceded in death by one brother: John David Roth, Sr.
