Carl R. Foltz, 83, of Mountville, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at St. Anne’s Retirement Community. He was the husband of Margaret J. Foltz, who passed away on March 17, 2014. He was born in Washington Boro, son of the late Raymond H. and Hazel Shultz Foltz. He was a graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1950 and a graduate of F & M College. He was a Senior Research Scientist for Armstrong World Industries for more than 40 years. Carl was a member of Faith Bible Fellowship Church; the Mountville Lions Club for over 50 years where he held many offices and served in many capacities; Mountville Community Service Foundation; served as a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Master; was a life member of the Mountville Fire Company; served with the Fire Police at Washington Boro Fire Company; served with Carpenter’s Calling Mission Team; served with Josh McDowell Ministry, having taken a trip to Russia; was a Sunday School Teacher with multiple churches; a member of the Lancaster Area Soaring Society, where he enjoyed model airplanes; volunteered with Meals on Wheels; and he was a member of the former Hemlock Hollow Hunting Club in Potter County. Carl sponsored a family from Russia as well as sponsored Fresh Air Children.
Carl is survived by seven children: Carl (Diane) Foltz, Jr.; Margaret “Pret” (Douglas) Warner; Mark Foltz; Beth (Steve) Myers; Matthew (Tammy) Foltz; Douglas (Melissa) Foltz; and Alice (Chris) Ringer. Nineteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Two brothers: Donald (Nancy) Foltz and Richard (Mary) Foltz. One sister: Jean Dyer. One half-brother: Raymond (Karen) Long and one half-sister: Arlene (Roy) Johnson . He was preceded in death by one sister: Pearl M. Shaud.
The Funeral Service will be held at Faith Bible Fellowship Church, 151 Donerville Road, Lancaster on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Claire E. Harstad, officiating. Interment in Silver Spring Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Please omit flowers.
