Charles A. Misal, 90, of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at home, peacefully with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Josephine M. Fritz Misal with whom he celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on April 21, 2017. He was born in Columbia, son of the late Charles A. and Myrtle Lowe Misal. He was a foundry worker, having worked for Donegal Steel, Marietta for 16 years, and Caterpillar, Inc., York for 18 years before his retirement in 1989. He was a Veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was of the Protestant faith; very active in Boy Scouts; was a Scout Master for Troop 113, Silver Spring; enjoyed going to and boating on the Susquehanna River; puttering; tinkering with things; and his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, four children: Carl A. (Sharon E.) Misal; Carol A. (James L.) Martin; Bruce A. Misal, all of Columbia; and Bonnie L. (the late David H., Sr.) Aulthouse, Mount Joy. Fourteen grandchildren. Twenty-three great-grandchildren. Two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son: Charles W. Misal, Sr.; baby boy Misal; one grandson: Charles W. Misal, Jr.; one granddaughter: Stephanie Misal Lefever; three brothers: William, Melvin, and Gordon Misal; and one sister: Margaret Misal.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 31 South Eighth Street, Columbia on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. David C. Powers, officiating. Interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, with Full Military Honors. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Please omit flowers.
