George James Rought, 80, of East Hempfield Township, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023. He was born in East Lemon, PA, son of the late Van C. and Margaret L. McConnell Rought. He was a Veteran of the US Marine Corps and a jack of all trades. George owned his own roofing business and attended Lackawanna High School.

George had a great sense of humor and was a very caring and compassionate guy who loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by one daughter: Joyce A. (William D.) Guffey, Taylor, PA. Two grandchildren: Jesse and Nicholas. Four great-grandchildren. One brother: Daniel Rought, Scranton. Two sisters: Ann Marie (John) Gowarty, Scranton and Edith (William) McWatters, Evans, GA. Also numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Carol Giorgio, Charles Rought, Eleanor Brown, Lois North, William Rought and Margaret Jones.

The Private Service will be held with interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to: the George J.
