Henry F. McKonly, Jr., 92, a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Henry was born in Washington Boro, PA, son of the late Henry Foose McKonly, Sr. and Elizabeth Hess McKonly. He was a proud graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1949, where he was Class President and valedictorian and a 1953 graduate of Franklin and Marshall College.
After college, Henry began his career with the accounting firm of Main Lafrentz & Co. He went on to become a partner with the firm. In 1973, Henry founded the accounting firm of McKonly & Co., which is now known as McKonly & Asbury, that celebrated its 50th anniversary in October of 2023.
Henry was a generous man giving his time and talents to the many organizations: Kiwanis, board of commissioners for Hampden Township, Columbia Jaycees, PICPA, Cumberland County Industrial Development Authority, and President of Zembo Luncheon Club. He provided additional service as an active member of the Shriners International, an organization of Master Masons. He achieved the 33rd Degree of Scottish Rite Free Masonry, and lived his life in accordance with the organizations core values; Reverence for God, Integrity, Devotion to Country, Justice, Tolerance, and Service to Humanity. He was President of Zembo Luncheon Club for the Harrisburg, PA Chapter. He enjoyed years of retirement in Stone Harbor, NJ.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Patricia K. McKonly; sons, G. Steven McKonly (Linda Wachsmuth), and Curtis J. McKonly; daughter, Karen McKonly Stauning (Timothy) Stauning; grandchildren, Page Zettlemoyer (Tadd), Ward D. McKonly, Meredith Stauning Chubb (Adam Chubb), Robert T. Stauning, Mark Henry Stauning; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Chubb, Nora Zettlemoyer, Madison Chubb, Owen Zettlemoyer, "JR" Chubb.
He is also survived by his sister, Marian Fry, brother, Donald McKonly (Elizabeth), and sister, Brenda McKonly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry F. McKonly, Sr. and Elizabeth H. McKonly, and by siblings, Thelma Farley, John McKonly, Louise Lutz, Susan Brommer, Harold McKonly, Frank McKonly, Patricia Keck, and Sandra Sandoe.
The Family Funeral Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Melinda McKonly, officiating. Interment in New Danville Reformed Mennonite Cemetery. There will be no public viewing.
