Marlene R. Gardner, 72, of Manheim. When Death came calling on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, it found her missing and received into Glory. She was absent from the body and present with the Lord.
Marlene was the wife of Gary C. Gardner, with whom she celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on November 16, 2023. She was born in Columbia, daughter of the late Robert L. and Mabel Trostle Arnold. Marlene was a graduate of Elizabethtown Area High School, Class of 1969 and was a technologist in research for Armstrong World Industries for 47 years before her retirement. She was a member of Reich's Evangelical Congregational Church, where she held various positions over the years as Librarian, Sunday School Secretary and teacher, choir member and director, Vacation Bible School teacher, Steward, Official Board President, Discipleship Outreach Commission, and Food Bank Representative for East Donegal-Conoy Christian Food Bank. She had a passion for studying the Bible and packing shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child.
Surviving in addition to her husband, a nephew: Robert Billett, Brownstown; niece: Kristen Almony (Edward) Long, New Providence and their children. She was preceded in death by one brother: Donald E. Baker and two sisters: June R. Arnold Billett and Sandra L. Arnold Almony.
The Funeral Service will be held at Reich's Evangelical Congregational Church, 338 Stackstown Road, Marietta, PA 17547 on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Dan Blank, officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Interment in Maytown Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to: Reich's EC Church.
