James R. Hyson, 77, of St. Anne's Retirement Community, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at home. He was the husband of Suzanne Smith Hyson with whom he celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary on April 24, 2023. He was born in Red Lion, son of the late Ernest R. and Martha Mary Herman Hyson. Jim was a production planning coordinator for Standard Register, York for 41 1/2 years before his retirement in 2007. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Red Lion for more than 65 years. Jim was a volunteer fire fighter for the Red Lion Fire Department, a member of Masonic Lodge #649 F&AM, Red Lion and was a Shriner. He enjoyed NASCAR Racing; sports (especially football); traveling; going to the beach at Ocean City, MD and Cape May, NJ and his Shelties. Jim loved his family and friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife, one sister: Jo Ann Hyson, Red Lion. He was preceded in death by one sister: Mary Jane Hyson.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 114 West Main Street, Mountville on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. Interment in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. The Viewing will be from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M., followed by a Masonic Service. Please omit flowers.
