Ruth A. Mahan, 83, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024. She was the wife of the late John E. Mahan, Sr. who passed away in 2006. She was born in Columbia daughter of the late Amos M., Sr. and Thelma Collier Swarr. Ruth worked as an inspector for Kahn-Lucas before her retirement. She was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star Chapter 366, Wrightsville, now Chapter 407, Elizabethtown and she enjoyed bowling.

She is survived by four granddaughters: Nichole, Laura, Jessica and Tanya. Nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons: Scott, John E., Jr., Dennis and Allen and also two brothers and one sister.

The Funeral Service for Ruth and her son, Dennis, will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 31 South Eighth Street, Columbia on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Tom Grubbs, officiating. Viewing/Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. An Eastern Star Service will be held. Interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens. Please omit flowers.
