Marie D. Poole Splain, 88, of Maytown, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 13, 2025 at Lancaster General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frank A. Splain, Sr. who passed away on December 6, 2003. She was born in Columbia, daughter of the late Earla V. Poole Clark. Marie was a graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1954. She was a seamstress for Donegal Industries for 38 years before retiring in 2005. Marie was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church and attended services at Florin Church of the Brethren. She was a member and president of the Ladies Auxiliary of Maytown-East Donegal Township Fire Department where she and her husband ran bingo for 20 plus years. She enjoyed baking, making soup, pies, camping trips, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed vacation trips with her very dear friends, Donald and Georgie Roberts. Many people would bring clothes to her for alterations. Marie looked forward to her daily morning calls with her sister Ellen "Tutter" Trimble. Marie loved her family very much.

She is survived by her son: Frank A. (fiancé: Susan Kimmel) Splain, Jr., Maytown. Her daughter: Marie D. (David) Rosa, Elizabethtown. Six grandchildren: William D. (Sara) Splain, Maytown; Frank A. (Kim) Splain, III, Maytown; Keri L. Splain, Bainbridge; Matthew J. (Sherry) Hawthorne, Lancaster; Michael T. (Marcia) Hawthorne, Elizabethtown and Timothy J. (Andrea) Hawthorne, Jr., Elizabethtown. Eleven great-grandchildren. One great-great-grandson. One sister: Ellen "Tutter" Trimble, Lancaster.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Workman Funeral Homes, Inc., 31 South Eighth Street, Columbia on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Tom Weber, officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Interment in Maytown Union Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
