Barbara J. Knapp, 89, of Lancaster, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024 while under hospice care. She was the wife of the late George N. Knapp, who passed away on July 24, 2009. She was born in Lyndhurst, NJ daughter of the late Floyd L. and Lulu Bringman Young. She worked as a switchboard operator and secretary. She was a member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Tabernacle, NJ, was an artist, having loved painting watercolors, was a baker and cook, loved swimming and going to the Jersey beaches. She was referred to as “Blondie” and “Mermaid”. Barbara loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by one daughter: Desiree A. (Larry) Reich, Mountville. One son: Peter G. (Kerry) Knapp, Australia. Eight grandchildren: Ben, Amy, Megan, Kevin, Kyle, Steve, Kevin and Matt. Ten great-grandchildren: Michael, Emma, Owen, Quinn, Will, Riley, Brady, Allie, Elsie, James and one baby boy on the way. He was preceded in death by one son: Mitchell N. Knapp and two brothers: Floyd Young and Bobby Huhn.

The Memorial Service will be held at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3825 Concordia Road, Columbia on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Marianne Kingsborough, officiating. Interment in General William Doyle National Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
